French Louis XV commode, circa 1725-1730, beautifully kingwood veneered with ormolu accents, stamped by Maitre Nicolas-Jean Marchand with a "Regence" feel, in extraordinary original condition as its provenance is the "Château de Lauroy" in Clémont (Le Cher) near the historical city of Bourges where it has always belonged to the same family. The original marble-top also is stamped.
Nicolas-Jean Marchand (1697-after 1755), who had his workshop in Paris rue saint-Nicolas, came from a bronzesmith family and specialized in museum-quality furniture, in fact several of his pieces can be admired in the Parisian library - Rue de Sully- and in the "Carnavalet" Museum.
