Anfora 1970s Italian Art Deco Design Pair of Ivory Gold Murano Glass Wall Lights
A vintage pair of organic Venetian sconces by Anfora with Art Deco design, high quality of execution with a very elegant ribbed texture and fine ivory cream color of the glass, worked with pure gold that enhances the preciousness of the manufacturing, on handcrafted brass supports embellished by an half round gold glass finial.
Anfora was founded in the 1970s on the island of Serenella, linked to Murano only by ferryboat and was therefore able to keep its craft secrets. The Company brought together master craftsmen from various important Murano factories, one being Giulio Ferro, whose family had been glassmakers for three generations. The company established a national and international clientele thanks to its reputation for high quality products worked with complex and ancient techniques. In the 80s Giulio’s son, Renzo, began successful collaborations with international artists and designers such as Yoichi Ohira, Maria Grazia Rosin, Ita Barbini, Massimo Micheluzzi, Arnaldo Pomodoro. Several of their designs would be produced within the company by the master glassmaker Andrea Zilio, Renzo’s brother-in-law and a former pupil of Giulio Ferro. Andrea Zilio has then distinguished himself with experimentation, adapting age-old techniques to a contemporary vision.
